Submission of Statement to the Council of States on the Relief Package 27
The HelvetiCA, Swiss Controllers Association, has officially submitted its position to the Council of States on the Relief Package 27 (Entlastungspaket 27 (EP27)/Programme d’allégement budgétaire 2027), which included severe cuts to the funding of regional airports - cuts that would have had significant consequences for aviation safety and infrastructure, regional connectivity, and the long-term stability of jobs in air navigation services. We have outlined our concerns about the potential impact on safety and the well-being of controllers.
The full statement, detailing our position, is available here:
• German Version
• French Version
We will continue to speak out for the safety and wellbeing of air traffic controllers and the public across Swiss airspace.
Update of the 17th of December
Today, the Council of States rejected this proposal by 23 votes to 16, with 4 abstentions. As a result, the expected savings for the years 2027 to 2029 are reduced to zero, which is CHF 75 million less than proposed by the Federal Council. This is good news for our community, especially our colleagues of the regional aerodromes, and shows that our voiced concerns are taken seriously. As a next step, the EP27 will be discussed and voted on by the National Council during the Spring Session (03rd - 21st of March).
