Just Culture
First and foremost, Just Culture is at the core of our activities.
We strive to anchor the principle of just culture throughout the Swiss legal landscape.
We endeavour any activity that supports the principle of and foster the spirit of just culture.
HelvetiCA is part of the Just Culture Platform (www.justculture.ch). In this Platform, that consists of many stakeholders of the Swiss aviation sector, we strive to anchor just culture not only in organisations but also in the Swiss legal system and in society.
Unfortunately, we will be faced with new court cases in the future. We support the concerned colleagues in any possible way. This reinforces us in our goal, to change laws and ordinances wherever needed.
General overview
One of the main activities of the safety committee is to deal with the outcomes of operational incidents. We are always available, as reactively as possible, to help the members in the event of an incident or accident. We would for example be present in the MOSI (Management of Serious Incidents) case reviews that any ATCO could be faced with in his career. At a next step, we would also help preparing interviews with the STSB and finally, upon request of the ATCO, be present physically during the interviews. Furthermore, in case of an AVRE (Ambient Voice Recording) listening session, HelvetiCA is allowed to sit together with STSB and Skyguide where we would make sure that all the processes would correctly be applied. Generally speaking, anything related to the STSB goes through our board, including an active monitoring of all their reports.
In the same direction, HelvetiCA safety committee is the point of contact for any internal and external safety experts. We of course talk actively with Skyguide safety representatives, but we are also dealing with military experts.
Who we are
In the end, the safety committee is also and maybe mainly a point of contact for the members regarding any business linked to safety. We try to keep an eye on local procedure developments and their impact on the level of safety inside Skyguide OPS environment. Any member can contact us in case they feel something is wrong regarding safety and we will use all leverages in our hands to investigate and push the case forward if required.
